Kick off Sock-tober with us!
We all have that lonely single skein of fingering or DK weight yarn sitting in our stash that we can't seem to find a project for. Well we are taking to our stash and grabbing those lonely single skeins and putting them in our self-imposed-sock-club.
What is a 'Self-imposed-sock-club'?
It is a club where you are using those lonely single skeins in your stash for a sock project per month for a year or until you no longer have lonely skeins. Unlike a regular sock club where an individual sends you sock yarn each month.
Let's work through our stashes together and then buy more yarn because we have used up yarn!
How to get involved:
- Join our discord group chat and/or tag Kat's Craft Corner on your social media posts showing us your sock project for that month*

What do you have to do:
It isn't a difficult process.
- You find 12 project bags (draw string, zippered, or even a Ziplock baggie)
- 12 skeins, or 12 sock sets, or a mix of both that you have in your stash
- A pattern to go with each skein and project bag; total of 12
Put everything you will need into each bag: (1 bag = 1 skein or sock set & 1 pattern) x 12
If a pattern is in a book photocopy it and put it in a bag. If it is a digital copy download it, print it and put it in a bag. If it is a pattern that you have yet to buy, buy it and put it in a bag. Once each of the 12 bags are filled set them aside. Ideally where you will be certain to see the bags at least once a month. Then commit. Knit one pair a month, drawn at random. At the end of the year you will have 12 pairs of socks (at least) and hopefully made a serious dent in your lonely skein stash.
Where did the idea of the 'Self-imposed-sock-club' originate from?
The idea of a 'self-imposed-sock-club' originated from The Yarn Harlot; Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, an avid knitter that blogs about knitting. The brilliant idea was brought to Kat's Craft Corner by one of our awesome patrons, and we look forward to doing the 2026-2027 SISC with you!

Monthly Prize Draw Rules and Regulations:
- Must tag Kat's Craft Corner on either Facebook, Instagram, or Tiktok
- Tell us the yarn you are using
- Tell us the pattern you are doing
- Must be at least 18 years-old in age
- Must be living in Canada
